That vocal melody is my favourite part of the song by quite some distance. Overall this doesn't have much replay value for me tbh choc bruh, I just listen to sections of some songs I enjoy.

Not even one song I listen to completely now

"You can't sing along to Carousel like that and still have this as a 3, mate c'mon"

Agreed. This album is a damn hook machine. There are so many moments that earworm their way into your brain. Ross knows how to write a vocal line.

Haven't listened to this in a month or so. Carousel and Invasion make me want to come back, maybe skipping the opener

If they wrote an entire album that sounded more or less like "Crystallised" they'd win me over. I guess The Mountain comes closest to that.

"Crystallised" is an incredible song for sure. Definitely top Haken for me. I would agree that it feels closest to the mountain. Would you rather it sound the same as the song tonally or in terms of writing?

I meant stylistically more than structurally; their quirkier material tends to work more for me than their *heavier* stuff. Effective song-writing ultimately trumps all, however, and that's more-so where this one loses me in spots.

@omair How can you not fucking love that HUGE tremolo just before the 3rd chorus on Carousel though?

@Yazz_Flute You might be the first person who doesn't like a Haken album as much because it's not quirky enough. Kudos to you sir.

Tbh, I like their quirkier stuff more too. It's more fun than the other material

I think one of the reasons why I love Haken is the quirk. It sets them apart from a lot of their contemporaries who take things a little more seriously. Gotta love me some 8bit breakdowns and bug-chirping synths.

Ah.... but heaviness and quirkiness. That's my G-spot.

Yeah, Flug, many artists I love put out albums this year, but I liked nearly none of those albums... Rise Radiant was cool, but Virus, City Burials, Fireworker, Flowers of Evil, and Versions of the Truth were all mediocre.
