I genuinely didn't think it was possible for music loving humans to dislike Sigur Ros to such an extent, could I see mild boredom? Yeah, fine. 'one of my least favourite bands ever' though, seriously?

they are quite twee and sing in their own elvish-ish language so as much as I rate them I totally understand someone else not buying in to all that

>I'm saying you're super immature sometimes
Says the guy talking in spongebob memes in quadruple posts going on for ever in threads about a singer he 1'd.
If that is maturity I'm pretty sure those words mean different things to us.
Do you recognize this as an argument?
>loving humans
We see too little of this. Maybe the idea is that love and empathy and affection and camaraderie and a feeling of friendship is immature. That could explain it. Anger and hostility, that's what real grown men do.

Yeah but 'ever' wow. I'm massively biased in their favour, admittedly, but if a demon such as myself can fall for their angelic charms, then I presumed mere mortals would succumb much more easily.

Self-proclaimed mature men can't be seen in public liking Sigur Ros. That would be the same as cutting off your dick.

As a casual observer, I kinda picture pots as a member of a Mad Max style biker group who rides into a thread and lays waste to all non-extreme music taste.

“Mariners Apartment Complex” reminds me of “Vidrar vel til loftarasa” by Sigur Ros.
I wouldn't think of this one (one of the most epic songs I've ever heard btw), but that's my problem with Mariners, the chorus in the first part of Venice Bitch, or some melodies of the title track - I feel like it HEAVILY borrows (/steals) from something I'd heard before.
I actually liked Lorde's and Jack's stuff on Melodrama quite a lot, here I hear more clichés tho (well Lorde IS more sonically adventurous than Lana in any case)
on a more positive note, Cinnamon Girl is my new fave track here. some of Lana's best song and lyrics are the more hidden ones in her catalogue - check Heroin or the morricone-esque Religion.
but again those of u who think Venice Bitch is one of the best tracks of the year... I strongly feel like you guys haven't heard many classic 8 minute+ jams.
I'm not even such an expert but this classic track from 1973 comes to mind - imo to this day easily better than VB. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihpwpy54Leo

"this is a pleasant surprise, everything other than Born to Die has been mediocre."
nah man. Born to Die had by far the best singles, but most of the rest was filler and her vocals on this album are often terrible.
Ultraviolence and Honeymoon have like 2 hits, but they are actually better albums.
Lust for Life was very hit and miss (like the debut) too.

"when i'm down on my knees you're how i pray (ಥ﹏ಥ)"
yep, tho that line might be less original in poetry than I had previously thought :P
these I love tho:
"everything is bright now / no more cloudy days
even when the storms come / in the eye we'll stay"
"flying to the moon again / dreaming about heroin
how it gave you everythin' / and took your life away"
