Demon, I don’t care what they say so much as they’re essential when talking about 2000s indie, they’re just inseparable from that scene/era. Even if you don’t/didn’t care what they were saying you had to know what it was. Even today getting a strong rating from them can be a really big deal.

Uh-oh again - I just skimmed the El Vy album lyrics, they’re miles more interesting than the ones here. Anyone who wishes he’d write more like Alligator again should check that out. I may need to re-evaluate that as well.

P4k were instrumental in actually ‘breaking through’ a load of bands into the mainstream - you can’t really deny that impact, it was what it was

Even though I didn’t start getting into music till 2011ish P4k were pretty huge for me at the time, I can’t deny that, and I’m sure there are/were plenty like me. I admit to still skimming their ratings daily even if I rarely read the full reviews.

I find it better than sleep well beast but the band have lost that special something which I feel they’ll never be able to get back. The affable style has fallen by the wayside and been replaced by affected art nonsense.

On a plus side, this album made me dig out Life’s Rich Pageant again. Now that is a classic.

I still don’t rate REM - that’s an oversight on my part.

Ah right, so you see cultural relevance with regards to P4k rather than believing them to be all-knowing demigods of indie, I get that.

My main problem with this album is interludes, especially Dust Swirls which really doesn't work. Other than that I love all the songs except Roman Holiday, and I wish Matt was more prominent in the mix

Sorry BoneyKing but I'm glad you liked it. I was legitimately surprised how easy it was to combine those two songs.

And Life's Rich Pageant is definitely brilliant and worth listening too, someone told me that there was a good review written on this website about it.......

Normally I’d give this more time before rating but I can change whenever I want so I’m gonna go ahead - it’s a three point fiver for now.

I bumped to a 2.5 - I couldn't have this rated lower than the debut, that wasn't right.
