It’s a solid 4.5 for me rn but there’s no way this isn’t growing to a 5 sometime this next month lol

Nice to see this at a 4.06 on rym too. I hope it can sustain these ratings; wishful thinking but well-deserved.

Imagine if they made August 6th a bit more chaotic and put it on here instead of Winter Solstice and this was a 5

Maybe I need to listen to it more but so far I’m not getting the Michael hype

I liked the album version of Solstice but agreed. August 6th is so damn good — tbh, there’s just so much to unpack on this whole record.

Winter Solstice is so good what you talking about

But Wendy & Betsy is one of the best songs they’ve ever done

The album version is becoming my favourite. August 6 would have been amazing on here agreed. Then again it's amazing on the ep as well.

I’d say replace Another Head for Hydra with August 6th if we had to pick one to replace. It’s a great song but a strange choice for this album I think. People were hyping up the heavy on this album and really outside of it, the album isn’t heavy at all, maybe lyrically and thematically but not really sonically.

@veldin, I’m sure I’ll try that at some point.
I was thinking about additions/subtractions/swaps with the EP earlier, but I don’t really think anything from the EP quite fits here (though Winter Soltice does even if I prefer the EP take on it). I do like the idea of a rowdier August 6th but that song is already basically perfect. Fuck, this owns. I don’t want to listen to anything else.

Kristy is the best on the EP. No way it would have fit here tho. Well, idk, maybe it could have, kinda like "Bound 2" at the end of Yeezus

At the moment, Flee is the only one I think is sub-5. But the other tracks are too good to bring it down.

Really don’t know if I can rate this yet, which is weird. It has just grown on me so much so fast that I don’t even know anymore. I might ask it to move in with me tomorrow idk :3

My thoughts 100% on Hydra
This album, to me, sounds like what would happen if you took the last half of “Blue Hen” and made it into a whole album. I was just talking the other day about how “Blue Hen” was quite possibly my favorite mwY song.

On first listen I may have called Tortoise sub 5 but that one has grown on me the most. 80% of this is classic materal.

Tortoise was an initial standout to me, especially that ending. Now they’re all kinda standouts lol

new wine, new skins is my favourite at this point.
Or is this truly how you’d choose to live:

i didn't care much for 2,459 Miles the first few times but think it's excellent now. Winter Solstice is better on here imo, but the EP version is excellent too. Tortoises has a great ending but I still think it's one of the weaker songs. Break on Through is just kinda there. It's pretty and all but I would have been fine with the album ending with Michael. Doesn't really feel like anything needs to follow that.

the mental health allusions and stuff DESTROY me on this record. I just feel like such a kindred spirit sometimes to Aaron.
