"Pretty sure the courts still abide by the rule innocent until proven guilty sooo"

and that is a good thing. but sadly society already rules and destroys before courts even come into play nowadays. that is the tragedy.

"Thinking the claim is false because it can't be proven isn't exactly a neutral position either, you're more on the side of the suspect."

no one is thinking the claim is false. in our legal system we say “the burden of proof is on the one who declares, not on one who denies". big difference. this presumption of innocence is how our legal system is constructed. an absolute core principle, a general rule of evidence. it goes as far back as the roman empire. if u think that position is more on the side of the suspect u sadly dont understand our legal system very well. this is not some kids play, no one is taking sides. its very serious stuff and it has to be handled seriously.

"by your your logic what happened to me is imaginary because the guy probably won't see any consequences and therefore I'm just some psycho trying to ruin his life for no reason."

i dont know and dont care what you are, no process = no judgment + not guilty until proven. posting some rather serious story as a stranger on some forum without hearing the other side, without any knowledge about circumstances and without any actual definitive judgment is as productive as watching grass grow.

Yes this is the way the system works but let's not ignore the fact it isn't perfect and those who know they are guilty in their hearts have gotten away with crimes and likewise those who are innocent in their hearts get convicted and charged with crime (like the death penalty). Sexual harassment is a crime that is very hard(even more difficult than rape accusations, since sexual harassment includes a wide range of behaviors including verbal harassment and god knows how hard it would be to prove someone said something to you repeatedly) to prove therefore, the public may be shunning the accused before they are convicted because of higher awareness of sexual misconduct statistcs, just because the public comes to a conclusion does not change the actual legal system. little can be done to get the victims justice for these kinds of crimes and that applies doubly so for those who are famous and hold power.

Maynard was accused, but I fail to see how his life was "ruined" he has a fan base of rabid fans who would support him despite claims that aren't proven and even if he was convicted I bet there would still be people who would continue to support him.

this is embarrassing. you're literally having a tantrum on the comment section of a punk album about how poor millionaires are getting accused of rape.

and yeah i definitely want a punk band that goes

"INNOCENT! UNTIL! PROVEN! GUILTY!

TRUST THE COURTS! TRUST THE COURTS!

WOMEN LIE ABOUT GETTING RAPED

FOR ATTENTION! FOR ATTENTION!"

truly cool
