I wanna hear someone explain the vox to me. Is it the emotionality? I could stand by that.

oh easily, im a sucker for desperate yells/screams and these somehow seem even more pained than his vox on Rory

I find the weakest vox here are easily the falsettos, but my God, while they would be subpar, there's so much commitment and earnestness put into that falsetto that I just kind of end up falling completely for them before the record is over.

I actually think his falsettos are p good but i guess im comparing it to his ones on the albatross which were rly mediocre but fit the genre perfectly

wwwwwhhhhYYYYYYUUYYYYY don’t ya LOOOOOVE me BAAAAAACKkkkkeeeeeugh
Yeah I felt his weak falsetto worked better with the desperate rock stuff than electronic but I’m still far from deciding what I think ab this

I’m a sucker for awkward, off kilter vocals, they can have such a vulnerability and in the right circumstances they can ground the music and lend a relatable everyman vibe

This just applies perfectly for this record. Very well said.

I agree that this could be rated anywhere from 1-5. In a day and age where greta van fleet can be successful, authenticity will continue to be put into question, and very little here is wholly authentic. I choose not to dissect every piece of music ad nauseum, and fuck it, this is a fun album, but... at what cost [2]

Just found out this was (co-)produced by Chris Walla...so hate me if you will but I’m now significantly more invested in trying to enjoy it, especially given the new Death Cab releasing around the same time.

"very little here is wholly authentic."
Authentic is such a nebulous term in the first place, but I find a hell of a lot of authentic emotion here, even more than Foxing's first two albums, and while, as already amply discussed, the sound is a clusterfuck, I find it to be an authentic expression of that emotion.
A lot of this speaks to me, to say it more simply.
Me and you are just on opposite sides of the pond on this one, Radiosuicide.

"The results have come in. This is in fact real music. It is not fake music. Soundwaves are generated in a way that is recognized as melodic to the human brain. Our work here is done."

Haha yes i think so fishing. The last thing i want to do is dissuade anyone from liking what they like. Passion is a key factor in any good album, and there's no lack of that here, or anywhere in their discog. I just can't say this is a very challenging or rewarding listen, at least for me. 5yrs ago i would've 5'd this no question, but this doesnt give much that i havent heard since then. Passion can only offer so much.
