But, Maiden spent the entirety of the 90's rehashing their 80's success. No evolution at all on albums like 'No Prayer', 'Fear of the Dark', etc. It's only now, on records like 'Dance' and 'Matter of Life', that the group has become something else.

this albums better the anything maiden has done imo

I dunno. I think 'Powerslave' and 'Master of Puppets' are pretty close. 'Piece of Mind' vs. 'Ride The Lightning'?

Piece of Mind wins easily. Powers;ave beats MoP easily.

So, you point to two occurences where Metallica HAS evolved,
That wasn't even evolution, that was just aping mainstream sounds to sell more records.
But, you say that you love Maiden and there's basically a band that has evolved very little to NONE since their inception.
How many of their albums do you actually own? I challenge you to name one time that Maiden made the same record twice.
but their core sound, the classical guitar runs, galloping bass patterns and other elements, have remained consistent throughout their career.
Rush have changed dramatically since their self-titled debut, but Alex Lifeson's shimmering riffs, effects-laden atmospheres, and melodic solos are the same.
Evolving doesn't mean giving up on everything.
But, Maiden spent the entirety of the 90's rehashing their 80's success.
Proof that you didn't actually listen to the albums.
Anyway, I believe you said you'd put this goatfuck to rest if I explained one thing for you. Now I see you had no intention of ever doing any such thing.
God I hate metalheads.

Why don't you just admit that you don't know what you're talking about?

Because there's nothing to admit, and you're just picking at an issue you said you would drop if I explained myself. I upheld my end of the deal, but you refuse to hold up yours. And for what? A thrash metal album that one hairy, drunken Slovak has said he doesn't like?

That's it then? We have nothing left to say to one another? lol.

Because it's just going in circles. I've established that I don't like Metallica and why. You continually disregard my reasons, pretend you know what I'm really thinking, and then make like a Baptist preacher.
I'm not a particularly bright individual, or even what you'd call "of average intelligence". But I know when the argument has run its course. There's not even any comedy value left in this.

You've suuuurrrellly established that you don't like the band. That's a given. As to 'why', I haven't heard one small peep from you. Your replies were all smoke and subterfuge. There wasn't any legitimacy in those 'lack of evolution' or 'commercial path' responses you gave. I countered each one of them. So, basically, it boils down to the fact that you despise Metallica because they are 'popular', as per your 'ubiquitous' comment. Just admit. You hate them because they're popular. It has nothing to do with the quality of the music contained on discs such as 'MOP'.....Was the above a referenc to Chris Farley?

Or so you would like to believe.

I listen to Green Day, The Cure, 311, Cindy Lauper, The Police, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, The Offspring, The Beatles, Less Than Jake, David Bowie... Yeah, I obviously hate things that are popular. I'm one of those kvlt kiddiez that only listens to bands no one has ever heard of and categorically disdains everything mainstream.
God I hate stupid people.

No.
Look, you're still refusing to listen to a word I've said. You're still projecting onto me. You're still being a crybaby over one album. Is your dignity really worth this?

No. I'm having fun at your expense. Plain and simple. You should have figured that out a page back....Why would you ever listen to Green Day? Are you 12?

So you're goal is to exasperate me by beating a dead horse, burying it, and dancing on its grave?
Look, kid... I pride myself on being a dickhead. But there comes a point where you really need to let go. You can't win here.
Why would you ever listen to Green Day? Are you 12?
Typical answer.
Jesus kid, I threw you a bone and you couldn't do anything creative with it? I also threw in Cyndi Lauper and Less Than Jake, and you couldn't make a joke about that?
Metalheads are such goons.

I never thought the day would come when I offer a high five to a fan of ICP. But hey, I guess the law of averages has to kick in eventually. ;)
I propose nipping out of this dead end argument for a beer and a Diamond Head listening party. Any takers? This Message Edited On 07.05.08

I'm inclined to agree with the reviewer more then a lot of the people giving them shit and arguing with the few dissenters. There are really only a few really good songs on this CD. Ride and Justice are both better overall.
