SV hasn’t made a bad album tbh [2]
but she has made disagreeable ones

Live In The Dream is so magnificent

The new one picks up in the 2nd half. I think its SVs weakest tho.

Both halves are consistently phenomenal. It genuinely baffles me that people here are actually giving it average/bad ratings. I'm trying to think of a bad song and I can't. Maybe 1 or 2 that are less memorable but nothing poor. It's a very weird record with a combination of retro and modern influences and none of them "rip" off anyone, just a bunch of odd half-conscious criticisms being lobbed around.

I just found a lot of the track boring by comparison. I don't think its a bad album by any means (I also don't know enough about the influences they're supposedly ripping off). I could see it being a nice, more chill album but it hasn't hooked me like the others have.

That's fair enough, I haven't heard her alleged "best" albums to compare and contrast. But as a standalone album, I'm loving it. Easily my favorite out of that, this one (Masseduction), and the self-titled.

the "best" can be evenly divided among Strange Mercy and Actor imho

Yeah Strange Mercy is high on my list rn

what about Actor?

I mean sure
I'll probably check her whole discog at some point but I'm most excited for Strange Mercy
|
| |
Actor's best bits are very very good tbh, not as consistent as the s/t but defs hits peaks for her
|
| |
daddy's home is her best since strange mercy
|
| |
agreed with gyro
but be that as it may, the new one has some great moments but there's not quite enough there for me to make it much more than """nice"""
|
| |
Tried a track or two off this a few weeks ago and really wasn't feeling it at all but idk it's kinda hitting the spot rn

worst SV agreed

Hearing s/t def cast this and daddy's home in a more unflattering light but it's still not awful or anything

S/t definitely crushes this but there’s some fun moments on this album. After s/t, it feels like she dons a new persona, or at least a new aesthetic for her persona, and I feel that glam indie pop suits her well
