"kind of cool knowing that we're witnessing and a part of musical history here."

I didn't want to slap a 3 on this. But, I guess I have to.

Batter Up isn't terrible but god damn that was such an underwhelming song to go out on.

so there are 2 things I've wanted ever since I joined this site:

1-for this album to come out

2-for these threads to actually be navigable on mobile without an onslaught of pop-ups getting in the way every single second I open a page

and I'm kinda in disbelief that the former happened before the latter

I still need to listen to this in full and I'm sure I'll love it but it's just funny seeing how absurdly overhyped and hyperbolic people are being

Ashcrash, download free adblock browser. It's the only way I Sput.

Con, it was enjoyable enough, but mostly lacked a lot of the energy that made the band who they are to me. I hope it grows. There are few great songs anyway.

you're talking about a band with one of the most critically acclaimed albums ever, one of the most dedicated fanbases ever, who have never released a bad album and from whom we've been waiting eight years for a new album only for them to drop it nonchalantly when we least expect it

of course there's gonna be hype

It took, what, 7 songs before a song truly engaged me? I can name three songs I thought were great. None were bad. Most were just okay.

"you're talking about a band with one of the most critically acclaimed albums ever"

not even close outside of sputnik.

78% on metacritic. 3.7 on Rym (7000 ratings). Very respectable of course. But it's not one of the most acclaimed albums of all time.

I disagree. I know so many mega fans that haven't even heard of this site and other review sites rate them favorably.

You can disagree all you like. I'm not disputing that they have a dedicated fanbase and that there is a lot of hype for this album. But it's not one of the most acclaimed albums of all time, unless we're talking about the top 5000 acclaimed albums xD
