Because nothing exists in a creative vaccuum and everything is relative. This is a very poor album by Metallica's standards.

I agree this wasnt exactly the best record, but i have enough respect for Metallica to say it wasnt a waste of talent. They arent that bad

Honestly now, Id listen to this over Green Day any day of the week, but this is Metallica were talking about, and if they cant make new music better than this, they should pack it up and retire

theyre legacy is already tainted

It's a pretty poor album in general, really.

Meh, I didn't mind it. The vocals were off key and there was an obvious lack of solos. But other than that I didn't mind it. I felt that lars put forth a better effort than usual with the drums. For example, the drums for St. Anger are pretty good. Some crazy double kick in that song. Aha, I bet somebody makes a comment about "if you think that's crazy double kick then you should listen to".........well they'll say some like harcore band like "threnody of a modern romance". Hmmm...I can't remember whether or not that's a song or a band. This Message Edited On 05.31.06

Lars had to make up for that pethetic showing on bass by Bob Rock

Yeah the bass on this album is pretty poor. Rob is a good bassist, though.

I think it will be reminiscent of St. Anger. With a hint of MOP. And there will be solos.

Probly a solo that would be on a Godsmack cd unfortunately, and theyll play as if theyre trying to reach theyre old stuff

Yeah, I doubt it will be that great. But I think it will be an improvement from this album.

Youd have to make an effort to make music worse than this

I really dont understand why people dont like this album! Although its not like Metallica...they said theyd try sumthing new. I find that i like it as its more "metal" rather than thrash and the double pedalling is obvious. All of you that think St Anger isnt hard for guitar...i hav the tab book! The tabs on mxtabs and stuff arent anywhere near! The songs r SO HARD! I rated this 4/5
