They can be pretty deep honestly, their lyrics don't get enough mention. Not the most intricate, but they're great at telling stories, esp. Core
It occurred to me no Persefone album has a single release with over 200 ratings and Truth hasn't even cracked 60. Sad stuff.

Just popping in to remind all the fledgling Persefone fans to give Spiritual Migration a shot. Even if Core doesn't exactly connect with you, SM might.

well the band isn't exactly well known compared to a lot of other groups of the same genre ya know

SM is still worst Persefone by far, sry dude
Also this review really put my thoughts into words http://www.metal-archives.com/reviews/Persefone/Aathma/610424/UnholyCrusada/320625 (not meaning to steal your attention or anything Ebola lol)
I think that's his exact point, Toondude. They aren't well-known but have pumped out quality material for over a decade now. Still, there are other bands that are less known that have existed longer so it could be worse

Yeah, that's what I meant my man. Criminally unknown and underrated.
People complain about prog going dull, and here we have a band that's willing to take pretty big risks trying to create something special. They should be blowing up.

I wouldn't say by far necessarily, but there is a gap between it and Shin-Ken.
For the record, the worst Persefone album is still gonna be one of the best albums you will ever hear lol

This is definitely the natural successor of SM, lyrics wise, whereas the first three albums were quite different. I wouldn't be surprised if future albums also have similar themes.

@Mars I finally gave their albums proper spins and really enjoyed it. their first album and shin ken were definitely my faves. core was good but i felt like it kinda dragged on a little. such an underrated band for sure

Nice to see someone rocking Truth support dude, within an already underrated band that album is even more overlooked

Totally agree, debut is phenomenal. I feel like, lots of albums have their ideas and inspiration spread too thin across their runtime, and that makes them feel formulaic and sometimes boring. With T/S it's the opposite, the album has so many unique ideas and so much heart that it barely fits onto the album, and that's why it feels so fresh and is so much fun front to back.
I'm thinking SM > Core > T/S > Shin-Ken > Aathma

Yeah, I do. There's so much passion in that album. Everything, from the intro onward, just works perfectly for me. Kinda hard to describe.
But I also 5'd Core after the remastered version came out.

I'm pretty solidly Core > Aathma > Truth > Shin-Ken > Spiritual, though the gap between Truth and Shin-Ken gets bigger and smaller every time I hear them lol
Truth really could use some more love

Been way too long since I listened to Core all the way through. I might d/l the remastered version and compare.
