P1 is the sound of a band desperate to get their foot in the door, with a lot of meticulous (but great) songwriting and a kind of rigid, at points awkwardly-produced tone

PII is the sound of that band loosening up its songwriting to feel more organic and making steps forward in the production

Juggernaut is the sound of that band trying to incorporate both previous styles into one darker, narrative-driven concept

This is the sound of that band remembering how to have fun again and sacrificing technicality for small morsels of experimentation with mixed results

a fairly objective guide to Periphery, there you go

P1 was decent but it feels too much like a Meshuggah knock-off most of the time

nom'd along with Megaderp, Korn, Baroness, and Gojira. Gojira were also nominated for best rock album, so that says a thing or two about the people voting for these categories.

Well at least David Bowie and Radiohead are up there, can't say I'm surprised about the former.

If only the rest of the album could've been as good. Absolom is pretty tight as well.

Marigold, flatline, absolomb and lune (and remain indoors and prayer position to a much lesser extent) are really all I come back to at this point but they're solid enough to justify the rating for me

those are definitely the best tracks, but they can't save the rest of the album. all the other tracks are meh to wtf levels of bad.
