Oh yeah, I'm hyped for the Madonnawhore album. While we're at it, here's a live performance of the opening track "The Scarlet Whore/Her Dealings with the Initiate" from the upcoming album recorded live last year:

That's an awesome performance yea. His solo album sounds like AOTY material so far.

I saw Toby's Madonnawhore release show last week and it was amazing. He did two sets; all but two cuts from Madonnawhore (The Deepest Hole and Craven's Dawn were the two songs not played) w/the closing song being a piano rendition of Gamma Knife, and another set of brand new music w/String Noise. Those songs w/String Noise though? Wow...it'd be a real tragedy if those pieces were a one-off performance only.

I'm hoping it gets recorded in the studio and released at some point, cause that performance sounded sick when he announced what it would be.

It's quite possible the entire Roulette show was recorded in some shape or form. I did see a few cameras (two on the balcony, and one by the mixing board) and there were microphones placed directly above the stage that looked like those used for concert recording these types of shows.
At the start of the show Toby mentioned he wrote the songs w/String Noise specifically for this show as Roulette gave him a bit more budget to make the show special in some way. There was a concert program handed out at doors, and the name of the songs for both sets were included as shown here: http://imgur.com/a/tWTJt

3rd listening is revealing more.

This album is a snooze. I could probably put together a collection of 15 songs they've written and it would be a goat album, but there's always so much boring filler barring choirs

Didn't enjoy it as much as Coffins On Io (or even Madonnawhore for that matter) but still thought it was a great album.

this album is a goddamn groover cleveland. still the greatest thing to come out in a while. listen to those booping bass tracks... those danceable alien drums.... this thing is incredible. some of the best production on a record in this decade thus far
|
| |
I still have to check Coffins and the other stuff but this is amazing.
|

Coffins on Io did the whole darkwave thing better imo.

This and Coffins are very different sounding albums imo, but around the same level of quality

"This and Coffins are very different sounding albums imo" Agreed, though i slightly prefer Coffins.

i disagree. this has 0% darkwave on it also; completely different style from io.
but its just as good; this is a more complex affair than CoI. CoI gives the listener many straightforward 'pop' leaning melodies to latch onto, this album is more about creating an immersive production and creating abstract layering and rhythmic techniques. album is truly its own world and i dare anyone to find something remotely similar.

also the drumming and bass on this and the tight interactions between the various cyber instruments grooves hard as humanly possible, its gnarly. i hope more electronic music moves in a direction like this. not necessarily sounding the same, but one of painstakingly making the production and rhythmic patterns an art form.
hopefully in the future we experiment more with timbre, grooves, and using rhythm.

Idk man. You make it sound awesome. I remember it to be synth pop drenched in reverb with the occasional section of dissonance. Haven't listened to it since the week it came out. I'll give it another shot.
