I have a feeling the new live album is going to be pretty flawless too; between the track list and the awesome sound.

I saw that video. All that made me do is want a Blu-ray for the whole damn thing. Also, got the promo and the sound is awesome. It gives the older songs so much more balls.

Matheos' production has always been great, but like you said Willie, it's really beefed up recently. Hopefully the next album continues that trend.

The Light and Shade of Things is just perfect. Probably my favorite song in their catalogue now.

I should make a Fates Warning thread considering that this is probably among my favorite bands in the genre. I'm just glad that the decades of hard work are paying off and that people are seeing them as the worthy titans in the genre that they are.

I feel like they have been treated as “worthy titans” since Perfect Symmetry. I do love this album but IMO they never will top that 4 album run : PS , Parallels, IO and APSoG.

They weren't treated as 'worthy titans' around this site until the album before this one. Look at reviews posted before the release of that album, and the comments from that time period are few.

Well , if you got to progarchives ..I know I know ,,,they have been gods since The Spectre Within, lol. They always have been grouped with Dream Theater, Queensryche, as one of the fore-fathers.

As a matter of fact , Awaken The Guardian is considered a classic by many prog fans and might be their magnum opus.

Fates has always been the best of those bands, never once failing to deliver a quality album.

Queensryche's early days were of course great, but Fates always really... speaks to me.

i will admit nagrarok, that fates always took the backseat for me when it came to early ryche and dream theater

but as for the present day material, the writing can't even be compared

Fates is demonstrating that slow and steady wins the race, and i have no problem watching them do it
