THERE'S NO NEED TO CRY
NO ONE CAN COMFORT YOU, THERE'S NO ONE AROUND
even you have to admit that this is pretty good writing

I have always enjoyed their lyrics.
Also Passer is easily one of my top ten Katatonia songs, so damn good.

eh, that line in particular striked me as kinda clunky tbh

Tbh I agree with Artuma about that line. They somehow (almost) always make it work thanks to the music and delivery though

I think they are pretty blunt with the lyrics a lot of the time, but it works with the more monotone delivery, and when the lyrics are actually more poetic it makes them stand out more. I don't know, I like how they write.

"How could I ever forget our days?"
That line gets me everytime just because of the delivery.

Their lyrics have always been depressively cheesy.

Well, they have had their good moments. I like the lyrics to "We Must Bury You" in particular.

I don't even care what Jonas is saying half the time, his delivery is so infectious it makes me want to sing along.

Brother
In your eyes I was the stronger
So how am I to cover you now
Without shadowing your path
This time
I watch from the sidelines
Your ghost in the limelight
Face your fears
And pierce the night
Literally destroys me, especially the way he says "your ghost in the limelight". The hypnotic instrumental section that follows makes it even better. (Departer)

Yeah, Departer is definitely one of the "good moments" that I meant

@Sabrutin, that is one of my favorite moments of the last few records. It's so good.

Their lyrics are pure gold.
He came back to your house
I didn't take it as a promise
Always thought it was a lie
He went too far the fucker
It's not like I owe him money
This is different

melancholic lyrics indeed but it's not like they are necessarily good, there's a reason why these kinda bands are never lyric-driven
