I'm going to the Images & Words tour because it's Images & Words and not The Astonishing

Yeah that's what I'm thinking

Couldn't even get through this album. What were they thinking?

Transformers movies are shit at the cinema, because at least at home you can turn that off and not have wasted money

Absolutely go Omair bro. Saw them some months ago on their Images tour and even despite LaBrie being more miss than hit they totally got me. As you all said, it's Images & Words. Not to speak of the encore A Change of Seasons in full... Nostalgia kicked me so damn hard...

This album makes me feel like Sarah Connor in T2 when she sees Arnold come out of the elevator.

Its like they deliberately dont want you to focus on one singular song with this album, theres no Dance of Eternity or Glass Prison in this album, and if there is its probably buried within this endless barrage of songs

Haven't listened to this completely. Probably never will

Calling this album prog is like calling Jack and Jill a comedy.

THEY'RE PLAYING A CHANGE OF SEASONS?
Oh my God, I'm going to lose my fucking shit.
I saw Shattered Fortress a few weeks back and was weirded out that Portnoy didn't play ACOS

It's all pretty good, still a shame they fuck up IAW hard by playing random wank in between some solo's. It's still a massive experience, it's a three hour show and there are some nice surprises. Didn't realise they were still touring IaW, went to that concert half a year or even longer ago

I'm still super excited. Members of Haken + Portnoy killed it at Shattered Fortress - they mostly played Metroplis pt 2 songs outside of the Shattered Fortress suite plus Mirror and one other song im not remembering.
Also saw them for Score back in 06, that was a hell of a time.

'It's all pretty good, still a shame they fuck up IAW hard by playing random wank in between some solo's'
I thought it was a great show, but they've been doing extended instrumental stuff and jams live since the start. If anything they do significantly less of that than the Portnoy days. I personally like it, makes the show more special and unique, and there's some great surprises hidden in there.
I can't help but think the whole tour is damage control for this album though, even though I did personally enjoy it...

Just because sputnik has taken a collective shit on this album doesn't mean that's how the rest of their fanbase received it. A number of people actually put this in their top albums from last year (I nearly puked when I saw it reiterated on Seventh Wonder's FB).

Musically this album isn't anything new from them. It's everything they've done before stretched out over 2 hours with a cheesy, gimmicky story.

Even that lends it too much credit; if it was everything they've done previously, then we'd have interesting and dynamic material to enjoy. Instead, it's less deep than a half-filled bathtub set to drain.
