No way should it be, either. It's his sign off, surely.

Dollar Days is the one hitting me hardest 'if I'll never see the English evergreens I'm running to...it's nothing to see...I'm falling down...it's nothing to me'

I guess it depends on personal interpretation whether it should be or not but it's academic anyway

" As for the man himself, David Bowie has effectively proven that he still has what it takes to release something close to a potential classic, even if he’s no longer as fearful of old age like he was back during the era of Heathen. Here, he is more accepting of his advanced age, and has come to the consensus that he can only do what he does best, and that is to make music. After all, he can’t give everything away."

Looking at this makes it worse goddamnit

Just rewatched the Lazarus video, it seems so obvious now.

How did none of us see it coming?

Because we had zero idea of it happening as Bowie has been incredibly private ever since his heart attack in 2004. I can't even image how Iman and their kid is even coping with this right now. Fucking terrible...

This album takes a whole other meaning after what just happened. It's pretty much a goodbye letter from Bowie, what a man.

I can't even begin to imagine how his family's feeling. I literally just downloaded his discography and now he's dead.

I know something is very wrong

The pulse returns for the prodigal sons

The blackout's hearts with flowered news

With skull designs upon my shoes

It's strikingly, mockingly ironic that our reception and celebration of Blackstar as a symbol of enduring quality and success should be almost immediately followed by Bowie's death. Like Lemmy, Bowie was such a legend that he seemed immortal, but in the end he was just a fucking great man.

I have been brewing a review for this album and now it'll have to take a new shape. RIP Bowie. Your legacy of greatness will endure everything.

As sad as this is I'm glad he got to release one last album. He knew his time was coming and this album was probably every ounce of energy he could spare.
