We all know everyone rips off everyone (blues progression doesn't count methinks). But this is just uncanny. And kinda creepy. Good song but.

Ye i dont think the chillis have in the past or ever intentionally would plagarise, Anthony Kiedis claimed in interviews it was very much his own story, and the rythm/guitar parts were inspired by wu tang!

john frusciante said he listened to "36 chambers" everyday for the recording, he claims they rap off time with some of the beats, so he tried it with guitar on a lot of the songs.

i dont think they would intentionally steal the beat, sure they sound strikingly similar, but there are some minor differences (the bass)
just because it sounds similar doesnt mean its copied, there are plenty of sound alike parts of songs out there that arent copied
as far as lyrics go, that can hardly be used, becasue Dani California was based off of By The Way and Californication, rather than some random story about some random girl

the intro sound a little like "country house" by blur

I heard that, it was on a radio station and they played both. Does Dani California sound like everything?

That doesn't excuse the fact that the verses are more or less spot on.

That's a fair point. The fact is, there are billions of chord progressions out there, it's inevitable that some will be the same and/or sound alike.

That was my point up there yonder dawg.

I really enjoyed this album. I like Mars a little better than Jupiter, but both are incredible. I second the idea for a battle to the death.
Although most people are saying that this album suffers from "White Album Syndrome", I think that every song begins to grow on you as you listen to it.
I've always wondered why people complained when they got more music off of one album.
Great review, and I'll be listening to this album more and more. This Message Edited On 06.10.06

Finally, someone else who thinks "Mars" is better than "Jupiter".
"Storm In A Teacup" is the best song ever.

The problem with mars= on "hard to concentrate" it sounds like the lyric "take this woman and honor her booty" is said

How is that a problem and no, it doesn't sound like that at all.

They should have thought of better planets to name the discs after. Saturn and Venus would have been cooler. And why the hell is Jupiter blue? The surface of Jupiter is a soft pinkish color with red and orange stripes...

my sister said that RHCP said that Tom Petty knew about the song verse being the same as Mary Janes Last Dance.
