This has been near the top of my to-check list for so long that I feel like there’s no way it’s not going to be at least a little disappointing when I finally get to it.

Long Fin Killie's Houdini is heavenly : p
@loveisamixtape
Try 5ive Style. Post-rock band with the drummer from Tortoise. Their second album has strong Caribbean influences and uses marimba.

|

Ghandhi did I just see a 'not really' followed by a list of hidden gem bands ;] will check a few, it's time I got back to Moonshake anyway
|
| |
And @Boney this album isn't the kinda HYPE peak/valley oost-rock that would let you down easily, it's more of a great mood piece - so never a bad time to check

half of them were classics ok : ( You can find them on the post-rock wiki page or in Simon Reynolds' Wire article

I bookmarked and downloaded a bunch of them, seems like my kind of music. Especially Pram and Roy Montgomery

I cannot get over these vocals. Something about hearing the saliva smacking around in his mouth just kills the whole record for me. They're fine when distorted like the end of Eyes and Smiles or the middle of Absent Friend

"since we're all here, i'm always scouting stuff with medium to heavy marimba/xylophone use"
I assume you've heard Ape of Naples by Coil? If not check that immediately for marimba
