Everything's a big deal when you're 16.

"but i think you're dwelling a little bit too much on this? i mean you can feel however you want about it but i don't think it's as big of a deal as you're making it..."
Because I am wasting MY time on something I will never use.

It's true doe!!
I agree.

High school was actually really awesome in retrospect. Countless opportunities to make it a fun and worthwhile experience.

You have to do something you don't want to do, Aftertheascension. Wah. That's life. Life is doing things you don't want to do 90% of the time.

You're only holding yourself back if you think knowledge is useless. "It's useless, I won't use it", I hear the same thing about sociology, psychology, biology, chemistry, physics, language, you name it

Except those subjects are useful.
Biology? If you become a doctor this is your life.
Psychology? Used in the same way.
Chemistry? This is used to make medicine and substances that we use every way.
Physics? Without physics we'd be stupid as shit.
Language? I mean, I'm learning Spanish from school and Russian from a friend and I love it. I think the Earth should not be speaking different languages as much as it does, but it's used for many things.
All of those are used practically. Abstract math is not.

Honestly, algebra and geometry will probably be useful for the rest of your life, regardless of career path.

You gotta open a book bro, maths of all kinds are used everywhere. Furthermore, it forms the basis of most of what I listed, so yeah

Finding the square root of a negative number will not be used because it's not possible.
Hypothetically, if I was to become an architect I would use geometry on an hourly basis, as well as physics and algebra.

Algebra and geometry are both abstract and concrete, calculus is when math truly starts getting abstract.

After: you'll use imaginary numbers if you study anything related to technology
Archael: how is calculus abstract tho?
|

Album Rating: 2.0
Except calculus actually makes a large degree of sense.
Edit: On the topic of language, I hate English.

Yes you are.

It might not be practically useful, but the point is that you're taking a newish situation and solving it using things that you're already familiar with, but also applying new and foreign concepts with it. Something you'll come across constantly later back then and later on.

"you'll use imaginary numbers if you study anything related to technology"
I've been programming since 6th grade. Currently a junior. Must have missed something.
