Yeah I agree with you, I don't think this tops Option Paralysis as a whole, but it has what may end up
being some of my favourite DEP tracks ever. May also end up being my second favourite album by them,
it's just so good.

Some of their best work, agreed.
Hero of the Soviet Union is the best song I've heard for a while.

I think it does man.
If you've never really listened to these guys before then don't think they'll hit you straight away, their other albums (but this especially) need repeated listens.

In that case, this is frantic shit, even for Dillinger.
If you don't end up liking Hero of the Soviet Union then you may as well give up.

Lol yeah, they are pretty far from being accessible, if you haven't heard them before then don't let your initial impressions fool you.

Those jazzy interludes ugh, so good.
This has got some serious replay value.

Agreed, the jazzy parts in Option (like the piano of Widower) are some of my favourite parts, so glad they kept some of it for this release. Have to say I agree with the review, this seems like a mishmash of basically everything they've ever done, and it works so well.

The spazzyness of CI, croons and soundscapes of Irony, accessibility of MM (on occasion), the quieter moments of IW and the overall experimentation of Option.
Basically just summed up the album right there.

Except it's somehow even better than that description makes it sound. Somehow.

Yeah, one of the highlights for sure the title track.
Wait till you hit the next song, that's where shit gets real.

A lot of people hate on Greg's vox, I think he sounds great on here.
You liking the techy shit? ;]

Greg's vocal delivery is much better when he is pissed off imo.

How great is that little noodly lead part in the buildup of Understanding Decay, at around 1:50ish? I
need to listen to this album a few times to let it sink in, I think.

I'm pretty set on a 4, decided.

"well option paralysis was pretty messy at times, is that the same case with this?"
What do you mean by messy? this album fares relatively similarly to OP, but with more controlled songs overall.
And Kitsch, Jennifer Lawrence my friend.
OP was chaotic at times. Means that i missed some structure on it(oh yes im talking of structure in mathcore). If u compare Miss Machine with OP you will see what i mean it's kinda difficult to explain. OP contains my favourite songs, but Miss Machine or CI was just a much more polished record.
Listening to new one atm.
