oh I'm familiar with Pavement Johnny. great band.
|
| |
I got into Doolittle immediately but it took me like four months of constant listening (why) to get into Crooked Rain and a year more to get into the rest. great band tho yah

Album Rating: 5.0
I was not a fan of most of Crooked Rain, though Unfair's a good song
|
| |
the whole slacker-irony thing permeating so much of pavement can make it tougher to get into (the opening song is a cover of buddy holly's "everyday" with lyrics about jerking off) than something as raw as this. altho that can go both ways lol. "elevate me later" just seemed lazy at first but now I love it. ahhhh taste

I just don't like how he sounds like he couldn't care less about the song he's singing on most of the songs
Like there's slacker rock and then there's "this guy just sounds bored by his own song"

Crooked Rain was definitely easier for me to get into than S&E. Great album, Gold Soundz might be one of my favourite songs

Album Rating: 2.5
oh so me and him are both bored by slanted & enchanted, pretty cool
|
| |
cringe club to be part of 😬😬😬
|
| |
S&E is the holy grail of boredom but then again most of my personality was slacker irony when I discovered it hmm

Album Rating: 2.5
not janky enough?
|
| |
slanted and enchanted sounds like shit and has some total throwaways (including or NEARLY including its most famous song) and it's still a solid 4.5 probably
|
| |
^this, exactly
+ who is janky is she single
|
| |
johnny et al. peep "web in front" by archers of loaf if you havent. I think its the best indie rock song ever maybe?
|
| |
Album Rating: 5.0
Listening to "Web in Front" right now and... it's cool, good even, but best indie rock song? Eh it's not like that unique
If Mercury Rev count, I'd probably pick "Meth of a Rockette's Kick" as best indie rock song
and if not maybe like Radio Cure
|
| |
it's so simple but so perfect imho. no pavement song stacks up to me, and I really like pavement. it's just too good. but can def see how it just seems like here's-some-chords-and-melody or w/e
