"Stephen writes demanding vocal lines in songs that often contain an octave jump between verses and choruses"
This is not exclusive to Anberlin though. Raising the octave and the chorus vocal effects how you make those giant choruses that people love so much. I mean, 90% of my favorite songs on rock band or the local karaoke bar I can't sing properly because I don't have the range to hit the chorus notes without dropping an octave.
I agree with the rest of your post though.

That is true, there are a lot of vocal trade offs in Anberlin's singing on the albums. And with a voice like Christian's, I don't think anyone else in the band could really do it justice by singing the trade off vocal parts with him.

Didn't say it was exclusive to Anberlin, but they do it often and that's an area Stephen struggles with live... mostly because of his bouncy, physical energy when performing.

Ive been meaning to check out this band. What bands are they similar too?

I would say they have similar qualities to bands like The Classic Crime, House of Heroes, Young Guns and Deaf Havana. Those are the only bands that I listen to that I think they kind of sound like.

The Classic Crime and Anberlin are two of my favorite bands. You will probably find some enjoyment in Anberlin then. They have a decent sized discography, and all of it is pretty good.

Yeah fair enough. I never really noticed a correlation between his bouncing around and his off performances, but you might have a point. My favorite videos of Stephen singing tend to be sit-down acoustic ones on Youtube

Type Three is now my favorite I think

It's one of my least favorite tracks. Not saying it's bad, it's just not that good.

I'm with Lakes. I think it's brilliant. All the instrumentals are actually complementary and blended (unlike Orpheum). so it just feels really cohesive. And the vocal melodies (and Stephen's delivery of them) are gorgeous.

It just doesn't do much for me. Been loving Intentions and Orpheum as of late.

You no likes? I don't think I can teach you to appreciate them, just let your ear(s) guide you into a musical bliss. If it's not those two songs, then so be it. Stick with Type 3, maybe someday they will come around.

haha I'm just joking. But yeah, Intentions is a little odd but I do enjoy it a lot. Orpheum I like but it could be a lot better than it turned out. But they're two of my bottom three on this album.

I figured as much, lol. I just wanted to sound all enlightened.
I love the flow of Orpheum. The piano (or synth, whatever it is) parts and his vocals on the verses are glorious and the chorus gets me every time. It's a fairly simple song, but it just works so well for me. The bridge is a little lacking, but I love the rest of it. I like Intentions cuz it just rocks. It's like this prefect blend of synthesizer poppiness with some mid-tempo rock to go with it, along with that bitchin (and surprisingly) heavy bridge.

Yeah it's probably synths. It's weird that you love the chorus so much because I think Orpheum has the worst chorus on Vital, maybe tied with Innocent. Intention is pretty cool so I'm not gonna argue with what you've said there.

"the newness has worn off a bit after listening to this so many times, i think i definitely prefer it to cities on the whole"
Same but I gotta stick with Cities. GD&S doesn't even hold a candle to (*fin). Outside of closers Vital has a slight edge but after factoring (*fin) I just can't call this superior in good faith.
