i've heard this like 28 times and still think it's pretty bad for animal collective
like, it's a 3 or 3.5 but for animal collective definitely a 1.5 or a 2

I like a few quite of the songs actually but like you implied, Applesauce by far the strongest track and it's far from their best.

are you still trying to like it, ethics? i would just give up after 28 listens XD
|

I'm not forcing myself to "like" it, I just want to make sure it's pretty much as bad as I think it is since it's basically one of my favorite bands out there.
Plus, I enjoy studying albums I dislike to really know exactly why. Like I said before, this is a rare case for me since it's Animal Collective releasing something pretty mediocre - so it makes me want to listen to it even more.. cause these guys are always doing something awesome.

anyone hear crimson? it sucks as well! http://youtu.be/rafY_lAqqfw

wtfffff
dude, write a 5 review for centipede
|
| |
nah im doing it right, not blinded by this lame crap. every other lp is a 5 though.
avery tare looked soul-less on stage i stared into his eyes and his adolescence was straight up gone. i swear panda bear looks so sad and now geologist is just plain creepy not cool like before.
who gives a fuck about deakin lol cause like who ever gave a fuck about him.
you better write release it, because im legitimately looking forward to it.
don't pull one of those [review pending] for two years on our ass when they release a new one and it sucks 5x worse. i'm praying it doesn't : (

i yelled for them to play hey light/slippi and he barely smiled just barely then he played fucking TODAY'S SUPERNATURAL for god's sake.. i died a little that night
|

lollll i was kidding about you being blinded, feel free to have whatever opinion you want haha. and yeah, it's so lame how they're pretty much playing the same setlist at every single show. they barely even switch up their songs that much from what i heard / have heard from other people. i remember when you would go to see animal collective live and fireworks would be almost unrecognizable but nearly as awesome compared to the original. they would switch it up and jam really hard, almost like a remix kind of. it just doesn't seem like they're too "into it" after all the hype from mpp died down and their creativity is really dying because of it.
deakin's actually real cool, was kidding about that as well. he just always seems to be the most forgotten by the listeners. i like that theory you have about him though, i never really thought of it that way even though i've seen like tons of interviews. it could really change a lot for the band. hopefully for the better.. because i'm not digging centipede at all still. it seems really soul-less to me, doesn't have that innocent and lively animal collective stamp compared to the others.
very sterile :/
feels like animal collective isn't playing for themselves or music anymore, just whatever fanbase they picked up after mpp. which super sucks and i kind of predicted it coming. fall be kind threw me off due to how remarkably incredible it was. reminding me a little little bit of bohemian rhapsody and the grateful dead. that ep pretty much still gives me hope that they'll drop whatever style they're after right now and head more along that path. i'm fine with animal collective being poppy.. because they've pretty much always been that way. but in centipede hz the songs don't really go anywhere and it feels as cluttered as an elevator carrying clifford and big martha.

the first time i saw them live i was about 15 and it was just after MPP. i hated that show so much, and yet it was surely exactly what i expected. saw them in paris friday last and it felt like a show moulded in the exact same way and yet i loved it so, so much. since i love MPP's mateiral and C-HZ's equally, and they played pretty much entirely C-HZ this time, i feel like AnCo have helped me mature or something.
but maybe i'm missing something and their live show really has changed. it just felt really exactly the same to me; weird drone sections (awesome this time around) followed by the songs that everyone wanted to fill in
also they played like a 13 minute version of pulleys, it was awesome
|
| |
and ALSO they opened with rosie oh. that's why this album is now a 5. :3
|
| |
the lyrics in centipede are great and i love them. just not too fond of the sound.
the age thing doesn't really bother me, it's just something that i've maybe always expected from animal collective i guess so i'm having a hard time growing accustom to it.
fall be kind was awesome and didn't feel too young at all. it went places and had much better bridges/transitions. wtf centipede hz is laced with some nice melodies and shit but it just sits for forty+ minutes.
