lol I like the part where Aso quotes two parts of my blurb but eliminates the rest where I explain it.

"Uh...not quite. He is staff. He is representing sputnik. Check the views on this and then the views on the other reviews. Combined. This review is the featured review and the only review the majority of readers are going to see now and in the future. The active userbase here already knows what the deal is with Deviant and this music. That's fine. It's the thousands of others who are linked to this from outside and will take this writing seriously that is the issue."

no see, like I said, that's not how this site works. he is one person and has one opinion. he's not paid, none of the staff are. this is an unprofessional site (sorry Dev). this is his opinion, not sputnik's. if some lurker comes here, sees this review, and figures it represents all of sputnik, well, that sucks but they;re wrong. the rating bar graph is to the right of the review anyway to give the casual reader a general idea of the userbase's opinion on the album.

I thought it was pretty clear what I was getting at but if you're too retarded to understand me (and I've seen your posts over the last little bit, you are) I'm not going to overexplain everything for your little brain.[/overexplination]

LOL.

I'll refrain from responding to that for now, Aids. Feel free to make any edits.

And yet the average rating puts the common opinion for this album not too far ahead of mine

Someone is still angry that someone should feel this way about an album, boo fucking hoo

I'm hoping that anyone who reads this review takes it seriously. Imagine seeing something you've loved and watch grow into something beautiful over years of toil and experimentation get hijacked by some dreadlocked irrelevant goons (the most sensible one of whom quit because he found Jesus) and a twelve year old man child, then turned into some great slab of hyped up, pumped up, steroid addled, jock and cheerleader pleasing garbage.

You Yankish creatures have a lot to answer for, but this might just top the cake

Dev you can't use the rating distribution here as an indicator when we can safely say that many of them are trolls and clowns

Nah. The difference between 0.5 and 2.1 is actually pretty significant, Deviant.

@Aids: The distinction between staff and user exists for a reason. Staff reviews are generally regarded as "professional" reviews whether you feel that way or not. That's all I'll bother addressing since you've now physically closed your eyes as well.

Lol, no they're not. You assume they are, but anyone in their right mind would know that these Staff Reviews are written by people just like us. Sure, the staff reviewers are better at writing than the majority of the regular user base, but saying that they're regarded as "professional" is just fucking stupid.

plus 2.1 is the average rating which doesn't mean most people gave the album a 2

Like As The Roots Undo has more 5s than any other rating, but has a 4.1 average

This has mostly 1s

@Frank: Lol.

@Fish: That's like saying the difference between a 2.1 and a 3.2 isn't significant either. Which it is, in case you were wondering.

@Trebor: Right, the rating the most people gave it would be the mode. I don't know why you're bringing that up though as it has nothing to do with the type of average rating used on this site.

Because if an album that is mostly rated a 1 can't get a 0.5 review, when can it? Oh shit Dev, this averages out to a 2.0. People really fucking love it, better change that rating it's too low.

Album Rating: 1.0

To elaborate: Since the lowest rating is a 1, every single vote that isn't a 1 is bringing up the

rating, sometimes by a substantial amount. There's nothing on the lower end to counter-act a 5

rating. If someone rated an album a 5, the overall rating could never be a 1, because the lowest

anyone can rate it is 1, and nothing can ever bring the average back down to a 1. Sure, with

rounding it could look like it's 1, but it never actually will be. So sure, you have some votes that

aren't 1 (the mode, lol). That doesn't mean that a 1 doesn't most accurately represent the votes.

At this point, the closest rating to the 62 1 votes are 21 1.5 votes, then 20 2 votes. This isn't

taking into consideration how many people would give this a 0 or a 0.5 if they could. The most

accurate rating that a reviewer could give this is a 1, considering the majority of the voters rated

it that and an even larger majority rated it extremely close. Now consider the fact that you can't

even rate the album below 0.5 more than the lowest review. So how can that balance out to what he's

giving it? It can't. So an album like this is more suited for a 0.5 review than just about anything

else.
