Kurt is already an excellent lyricist. He just wrote what fit with DGD. What he did back in O! The Joy was super great lyrically and his solo stuff has always had killer lyrics.

Never heard of O! The Joy. I don't think Kurt was a particularly bad lyricist with DGD (Happiness in particular had some good material lyrically) but he was never brilliant and he was definitely better on this. Yeah I can understand the full-album thing it is a concept album after all.

Yeah Kurt was in a bunch of bands before DGD. Five Minute Ride, No Not Constant and O! The Joy. O! The Joy is by far the most experimental. The other two are more kind emo.
