When they play live, Jordan should dance around less. I enjoyed their set, but most of the people around me who were there to see Thrice were, understandably, quite confused. The band sounded fantastic, but Jordan dances around so spastically and relentlessly that he literally only manages to yelp every tenth word or so, relying on the over-eager crowd to fill in the gaps. Also, I know they were an opening set, and they did play "Andria" and "A Departure," but they seemed to deliberately avoid playing "King Park." I think it has too many lyrics and a sufficient amount of the crowd had not learned the melody yet. If they'd just stick to the basics of playing and singing, they'd be fine; it's the theatrics that stand in the way of a jaw-dropping performance.
well go to a show they're headlining. On the LD/Defeater show they were so awesome. Only song Jordan didn't give mic to the crowd for was Sunday Morning At A Funeral (which I'm surprised they played).

Well, if I had the luxury of deciding when and where I could see them headline, that would make sense. I was simply describing what I witnessed. It was decent, but it was overly apparent that Jordan was playing to his fanbase and nothing else; literally half the crowd walked out after La Dispute finished their set. They were awesome at the Electric Factory, as well, but I only thought so because I knew the parts that the crowd had to sing. For any newcomer, the band came across as inaccessible. I mean, for a band so founded upon the rhythm of the spoken word, it was quite a sloppy performance. Still, they played "Why It Scares Me" perfectly, which made up for the whole 'dancing around breathless' thing.

If the singer stopped being energetic at shows, their live performance would be ruined. I personally don't go see La Dispute to see a perfect recreation of the recorded material.

I think "A Letter" is my favorite track on this; not the best, wich is a toss up between "Safer In The Forest / Love Song For Poor Michigan" and "King Park," but my personal favorite. It is just so fucking raw and endearing and gut-wrenching. Also, "All Our Bruised Bodies And The Whole Heart Sinks" is phenomenal. And yeah, iFghtffyrdmns, Jordan's dancing thing is sort of funny, but I paid to see a kick-ass rock show, not to giggle. If I wanted a few chuckles, I'd go to a comedy club. My unsolicited advice to Jordan? "Stick to the singing, there, my little ballernia."
