*In all the years I've listened to music, discussed it with friends, gone to shows and played in bands and read professional reviews of rock, punk, metal, hip-hop and d'n'b, I've never once needed or cared about advanced music theory. Probably never will. When I talk about music, or when I write about it, I speak about my experience and ideas. I never try to bludgeon people with my opinion, I just try and get people to think about what I believe to be worthwhile, interesting ideas. You, on the otherhand, want to dictate what people can and can't talk about, what they can and can't offer an opinion of. How the hell would any kid ever learn about music?*
sooo....basically what you're saying is...Opinions on this kind of site really are meant to try and shape opinions...The intended listener will either relate to your opinion or disagree with it, but either way, you are trying to help form an opinion.
I gotta say though, I agree with you completely, if your opinion is that the music is shit, you should be able to say so. If only people who liked the music rated it, everything would have a 5 (or similar score as compared to their previous work) there would be no point in looking at reviews, or looking at this site even...people who could relate to the negatives of that opinion (the low score I mean) might buy it unprepared for the experience. Those who disagree with the negatives still disagree with that, and carry on enjoying the music so I don't see how an opinion opposite your own hurts in any way. I feel like not enough people rate pop music who don't like it, speaking of... the opinions are there, but never on any of the main sources, just in background talk.
Plus, BTBAM fans of all people should expect criticism by now, this EP has a pretty high score in spite of that. (then again, most sputnik people who loved the band rated 5 without even listening to this...so I guess in a sense a lot of the high ratings are more invalid than the low)
