this album is just transcendent. it has this feeling of dejectedness or anger or sometimes even sadness the permeates most of the album but everything is all washed out by the lo-fi shoegazey production and the jangly guitars. and then sometimes these brilliant moments of sunshine manage to poke through the layers of dust before they too slowly get washed out. like the end of drag open, after the angsty first half that feels like its almost too tense and dissonant to keep itself together, and then when it finally implodes, it fizzles out into one of the most refreshingly beautiful moments on the whole record. just absolutely superb songwriting.
