Pretty hard. Only heard it a few days ago, can't believe it has so few votes. Great album.

Man, Hopeless is amazing as well. Those are my two favorites for sure.

nah, Happy is the best

but that's probably because I've overplayed Hopeless, that song is amazing indeed

Happy builds up so well, and the guitar riff in the outro absolutely slays

happy took the longest time to grow out of this album but i agree the climax is incredible. lyrically it's not as strong as charles' stuff though

Happy makes me so sad every time I listen to it, how ironic

Still yet to completely absorb the lyrics, only spun it in full 6 or 7 times. Absolutely loving it

though.

Jamming now, up to Happy

oh my, this album has pretty much the best lyrics in indie-rock. ironically ex-girl collection has my favorite writing even though the vocals are mixed incredibly low, but this is one of those albums it's worth reading the lyrics online or whatever

Will do. From what I can gather its all about mid-life crisis sorta issues yeah?

the whole album? mostly yeah, and general kinda exhaustion/melancholy/depression and whatever, but what i like about it is that it doesn't deal with it in the over-the-top histrionic way that most traditional emo does, it's way more low-key and resigned and therefore more relatable, to my ears at least.

tl;dr - you're pretty much right

Lovely, lyrics that are too melodramatic detract from the music IMO.

The vocal harmonies on She Sends Kisses are so good.

The vocals in general are really great, so much sincerity and emotion in every song. The harmonies are brilliant.

'the vocal harmonies on She Sends Kisses are so good.'

agreed hard, awesome vocal harmonies are one of the wrens' biggest strengths. i recommend you check out secaucus if you haven't already, it's much more pop-punk-y and pixies influenced than this but has just as many sweet sweet harmonies

'Album rules, nice avatar Jeff'
