Train of Thought hasn't aged as well as its predecessor, or any of the 1992-2000 albums.
For example, I used to enjoy Labrie's impression of Hetfield, nowadays not so much.

I mean, it's still miles better than Shittymatic Chaos, Shittavatium or The Astonishit

fair bit stronger than this too. highlights are excellent, but DT's take on butt metal on ToT >>> take on butt rock here
Lines in the Sand also a definition of a limp noodle song

@Voivod: That's actually my biggest reservation with Portnoy coming back to the band, as excited as I still am. I really hope the band don't resort to those overly edgy aggro-metal sections like they did with a lot of the 00s albums

That goes without saying, but I am talking about Train of Thought per se, and its ancestors.

I am on the quest for completing DT´s studio albums, so i still don´t have the proper frame of reference, but i love Falling into Infinity. Perhaps it´s because is the disc that introduced me to the band and mainly, Portnoy (i am a drummer), but never understood the dismissal on this record. Anyways, perhaps listening every record will give a different take.

Yeah, it's true. I already completed mine and that can give us a different and complete perspective.
In relation to Falling into Infinity I also like it very much. As I mentioned on my previous comment, it's an underrated work. I think the main problem with it is that it released after two of their best works.
