Oath they sound awesome.
If it was an album of tracks similar to them, I'd be giving this much more than a 3.

Natey, me neither they sound nothing like TMV...

I like the acoustic Get Out and the one that's not on the album (Every Way?) but the other ones were worse than the album versions by quite a bit i thought.

circa's always tried to be tmv...first five songs are really good on here, however...

^^^ totally agree; strange terrain and imaginary enemy are total mint and are probably the peak of the album. its all really stagnant and downhill after #8/9.

Imaginary enemy is my least favorite on here. I understand not liking the last few but there is definitely not a drop after the first 5. Through the desert alone, frozen creek, fever dreams? 3 of the best songs.

yeah.... 1-7 are solid strong. everything else is just kinda meh.... just getting into these guys, so it's just my opinion on the album. gave it a shot. thought it would be more overwhelmingly melodic and moving, but just didn't make the impact i thought i would get from reading this extremely enthusiastic review. i will say that some of the stuff on here is produced with some cutting edge technology. im impressed, but not entirely persuaded that this is one of the best of 2010.
still, imaginary enemy is my personal fav. then again, this place is death, is my personal favorite off diamond eyes, so maybe i have no idea what im talking about at all. or maybe its just my personal taste in music.

High pitched vocals and effects pedals =/= The Mars Volta. The Mars Volta sound all red, and Circa Survive is distinctly blue/purplish.

Haha awesome comparison. I'm also in agreement that CS is nothing like TMV.

I can't think of a better explanation than that one haha. On paper, they have a lot of similar characteristics, but they don't really sound alike.

I wasn't planning on picking this up, but after hearing a few songs, it sounds a lot better than On Letting Go. Getting... now.

It's worth a few listens. Or twelve. Maybe a baker's dozen? Possible.

I haven't heard much of their stuff previously but i'll check it out now for sure. Only a couple of listens through this album at the moment but for the most part this music is creative, driving and powerful, particularly digging Frozen Creek and Fever Dreams but all the songs have something to offer.
