nah, it's more like their ungodly ability to take a good idea and stretch it out for far too long and then bury it into the ground and repeat the process until you've got enough for an album. then randomly splice them together.

I like that about them and I usually hates bands when they do that. The thing is, I find their ideas that they mindlessly throw together are really good individually (minus the chug). Tommy still sucks as a growler/ singer.

Tommy has some of the most monotone vocals in metal. his cleans are overproduced to fuck and his harsh screams are emotionless, flat, and boring, as if he does them only because he has to

Tommy's clean vocals are more natural on this record... u would notice if u listened to god damn thing. They were very overproduced on alaska and especially colors mind you.

Initially settled on a 4 but feel it doesn't justify my thoughts of the album.
All in all I think this is a different beast than Colors though. Definitely a grower and like that a lot. Mirrors, Obfuscation, Swim to the Moon are awesome. Fossil Genera is probably my favorite off this; that ending... One of the best things I've heard this year.

And if you don't then check out The Silent Circus if you haven't. it's better than Alaska as a whole, just more raw. Oh and it has the trio of Mordecai, Reaction, Shevanel Take 2; one of the best things ever.
