I don't really consider this a thrash album at all, it's just a metal album. I do like quite a few of the songs on here though. Probably the best "mainstream" metal album ever in my opinion. Unless you wanted to make a case for Paranoid or something, but that was less mainstream for it's time.

This is the CD where Metallica changed their sound and sold out. Non Metallica fans became fans when this came out. Many long time Metallica fans collectively said WTF together in unison spiritually.(and gave this CD the finger) This is an excellent hard rock CD, as a thrash metal CD, it's number 2. Interesting CD but if you listen to them because they are thrash metal, then you will not like this CD at all. I was let down big time when this originally came out. At least they kept selling out so there was no reason to go back to them anymore. Still think the first 4 CD's were great and And Justice For All... was the first metal cassette I owned.

How is it possible to 'keep selling out'. I suppose when they cut their hair in the mid 90's you shed a tear

@ MrPoopular - No, I didn't listen to metal anymore when they cut their hair but I went back to it recently among my other musical tastes. I didn't care when they cut their hair and thought it matched their new musical style, so it wasn't so bad to me. I actually thought it looked good because my hair is short also and I like to style it as well. I confess I haven't heard any of their new CD's since Metallica Metallica because people say they suck so bad I don't want to waste my time even downloading it off the internet. XD Like I said, I was let down big time by the black album and I know they've only sold out more, so I'm in no rush to listen to the newer stuff although I might check it out someday.

I just changed my vote from 4.5 to 5 after i re-listened (years later) a single song -The Unforgiven- in HD. Honestly, if this isn't a classic, i wonder what a classic is.
