it's really impressive the way they do stylistically create the elements in the index, i think the issue to me is that water and earth's theme appropriate stylings really don't play to their strengths and so they kinda bore the piss out of me generally

I think they pulled off the Alchemy Index amazingly well.

i agree. but i do think fire and water worked better than earth and air. air wouldve been the most difficult style to make if they didnt want it to sound like water, because being saturated in guitar effects are heavily needed for both. air didnt work too well, but earth was fine.

after reading the review, i wanna hear what it would sound like if earth was tribal drum based lol

Air sounds like bogstandard indie rock.
Water is by far the best, it's incredible

tbh I have this at a 4.5 cause I think the Index as a whole (all 4 EPs) are a 4.5

individually, these 2 would probably be a 4 and I and II would be a 4.5, but it's a "greater than the sum of their parts" thing

It's why i was left so underwhelmed by this. Like, 1&2 is my favorite thrice release because it perfectly balances both the heavier and quieter side of the band, and does a fantastic job at emulating fire and water. It got my expectations too high for this one tho

I speak in many tongues of many men

Argue with angels and I always win

But I don't know the first thing about love.

Top 10 Thrice song for me. Earth is underrated.

Daedalus always hits me in the feels, every time.

Earth is underrated, but I have to say that all of the discs are stellar. I'd probably go in order, honestly, Fire > Water > Air > Earth, but I really do love all of them.

Water > Air > Fire = Earth

I dunno, Fire is probs a bit better than Earth but they are pretty close for me. Water is pretty much perfect and Air is just right behind it.

after first full listen: fire >>> water >= earth

air is too much of a mixed bag to be placed properly in the ranking
