What parts did they edit out?

I can totally imagine that version... *shudders* I mean you can't edit that song without screwing it up... It's supposed to be nine minutes long... the radio sucks.

Green day sound more like oasis or new order to me. Reverb and over production can ruin almost any band.

"What parts did they edit out?"

Most of city of the damned, there was about six seconds of I dont care and no angry part of that, the solo on Tales from another broken home and there was only really singing bits so it all sucked.

I guess people only want the words, but it sounded so cheap and bitty.

yeah...welll....i like country in moderation. BUT when you've hear country 24/7 it becomes a little redundant. One can only hear someone sing about their beloved dog dying so many times...or how their beloved stetson was stolen...

To my knowledge most artists tend to talk about the same things, so its not just country. Besides if the music is good enough lyrics don't really matter.

this album and country are things that i cant stand, for reasons previously defined for green day, and country, in whole, is like hawthorne heights with twangy, and, if possible, whinier music. i hate country, and i live in a small rural town as well, so i feel your pain, FWIW

Im sorry labonza, but this pretty much proves you ain't the brightest crayon in the box. There is good country out there you just have to look hard enough. In that sense I'd say its somewhat simler to rap because if you try, you will find good music within the genre.

wow...uh...i didnt know i would start the "country debate"...let me clarify my standings on this...i can listen to country however it is not my prefered type of music...i believe johnny cash was one of the greatest country singers, and lynard skynard (if you consider them country...more like southern country rock...)

...and i have been known to listen to garth brooks...lol ;) (guilty pleasure i guess...)

sooo...back to greenday....This Message Edited On 05.10.06

I know what you said dude, but you obviously didn't understand what I said because I was talking about the lyrics. Personally there is a very small amount of country that I'am actually able to enjoy.

.......but, yeah, back to green day

...yes back to Green Day, OK band really, very extreme points of view. They either suck or rule, can we find some middle ground.

wow, you guys must be duller than me, as you did not understand the point of my analogy. i was comparing whininess, not sound. i have heard alot of country, my brother and my mom like it, so i have to deal with it constantly, and i still hate it, and rap, everybody up in my town likes rap, and i cant understand why, i hate rap, and ive heard enough to know that i will never like either genre. as for green day, i will only mention this to make this comment relevant to the review and the purpose of this thread, i dislike them with a fiery passion, but some people like them and that is how it is.

Im pretty sure you're just being close minded, but you can't judge a genre just by what you hear people listening to. It kinda seems like you haven't heard enough of either genre, but you go ahead and do what you want

tell me, in your opinion, a good artist in each genre. i hear this garbage all day where i live. i live in a freak little town in colorado with tons of country radio stations, and the stations that aren't country are rap. i gave up on the radio just for that reason.

i meant rap as the other genre, not pop-punk, if you look at my profile, you see that pop-punk is apparently my "favorite" genre. anyway, i've heard willie nelson and it sickened me. as for the other 2, cant really comment

I have this album and I also have Dookie, they both are good. But if you dont have dookie and are going to buy american idiot buy dookie first then buy AM cause dookie diserves it. Im not saying AM is bad cause it rocks!! I love novicane and death of st. jimmy. ROCKIN>! But boulevard of broken dreams, holiday and wake me up when september end are getting overplay, and im worried people wont buy the cd cause of that but the rest of the songs are worth it totally worth it!!! Rock on!! GREENDAY!!! ROCK ON!!!
