If you guys like this, check out Moonsorrow if you haven't done so already.
I have.
I can't really say if they have a similar "style" persay, but they construct sweeping, multi-faceted epic songs that vary in mood and tempo and heaviness very similarly to Opeth
Yeah, I agree.
only better IMHO.
I dont think so.
Opeth is just the epitome of everything that is awsome, IMO.

Still don't get this album (and believe me, I've tried) Bleak is the only song that lives up to the hype imo.

I have an Opeth shirt myself. There's a castle in the background and a hot girl with a dress on in the foreground. I like wearing it. I like the band too.

I don't understand how you have fortress.

I needed to change what it said I was "digging", and since the profile part in which you can type it in is gone, I opted to just click the Dig It link on Fortress to get it changed. I'm sure I will dig it if the single is any indication, which I am extremely digging right now.
ahhh....just saw that

Opeth hasn't written a new song since Blackwater Park came out.... I just feel they should try something new, just once, and see if they are still overhyped.

Nothing on Ghost Reveries is a new song? Or do you mean they havent changed their style since Blackwater Park?

Ghost Reveries is just Blackwater Park with modified riffs.
Ghost Reveries= Blackwater Park version 1.5

I'm not a metal aficianado by any means, but whoa, this shreds.

Hey, finally someone mentioned Blackwater Park (the song)! My personal fav is Drapery Falls (IMO it has the best, most fluid and continuitus (I made that up lol) blend of the various elements that identify Opeth for me), but the title track is a close second. Bleak is a great song. Leper Affinity bores me after the first 5 or 6 minutes. Rest of the album is blah. Still Life is way better. This Message Edited On 01.16.08

So that progressive rock album entitled Damnation is the same as Blackwater Park? I really don't see how you think that Ghost Reveries sounds at all like Blackwater Park either. Yea, it's still an Opeth album so it will have a similar style, but it definitely has a different sound and varies a lot more. What do you want them to do? Create an indie rock album.
Pretty ignorant and uninformed comment if you ask me.

No, I think he means Opeth need more NORTHERN HYPERBLAST AND CHURCH-IMMOLATING TREMOLO RIFFS

I think the top 3 from this album (in order) are The Leper Affinity, Bleak and Blackwater Park.
But I'm pretty gay.

Bleak is not one of the best on this album, it is extremely overhyped by opeth fanboys.
The Leper Affinity and Blackwater Park are infinitely better.

The Drapery Falls is still the best song. Love how this debate goes on forever.

Leper Affinity and The Drapery Falls both wreck Bleak.
