Sabbath is the best metal band ofc, speaking of genre pioneers this album pretty much started black metal AND folk metal right? I'm a little dusty on my extreme metal history but I seem to remember that being the case

This was the album/band that pioneered viking metal yeah. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

Nah dude their earlier stuff was more bm than this. Not saying that this isn't, but the albums before this were what really introduced bm vocals and the like. This was the one where they first started focusing on the bm mixed with viking metal.

Yeah I sometimes sometimes forget this band has earlier albums since this is the only one anyone ever talks about, their first one would be the first bm album then
