A Simple Mistake, The Lost Child, they're pretty darn lament-esque

There's only a couple on the album though, whereas they'd probably be the happiest songs on A Natural Disaster. I think it was a nice change - as long as they change things up a bit next album

It's not bullshit. It's the truth. Anathema now is just an average band with nothing really special
and unique that others bands can envy. Yes , it's interesting for a band to change. But their last two
albums it's not THE perfection. I'm pretty sure that many of you love their last 2 albums so much just
because they are "progressive" and because of S.Wilson touch. And their lyrics now are something more
than 'happy'. are giggly and cheesy
'All that I know is I love you , yes I love you . Life is beautiful , world is beautiful , everything
is beautiful' Come on..
they are good, nothing more.

Thanks guys, just speaking my mind here.
@Madcreator and @JS19
Guys don’t get me wrong, if there’s anything I hate is stagnation, and I would stop caring about this band if they have chosen to make Eternity or The Silent Enigma all over again. I just don’t appreciate the direction they’ve been taking for the reasons stated on my post, and just like aggelosm said…haven’t we heard this kind of sound before, independent of how good it is?
Not to mention that for the first time in their career they’ve accomplished to write 2 (3 counting with Falling Deeper) similar albums.
And I understand that musicians feel the need to evolve, nothing against that, I just wish they take another direction on their next album. Certainly not a return to their roots, but at least something slightly different.
Oh btw I do like power metal, so believe me I have no grudge against happy music. :D
@Johnny: I’d say A Natural Disaster is their borderline album, nothing wrong with it still fresh to my ears after 10 years.

"Or I am just writting bullshit, who knows. "
Yup :-). The improved production gives the atmosphere a new, more fresh life. You can't expect the same kind of atmosphere for so long. The more polished production is good, and it's modern. Also it's good to be happy for a change, there are good things in life. True the albums feel linear (esp WS) but there's a hell of a lot of passion on both albums that you can't deny. I enjoyed them more than Judgement, as blasphemous as that is.
And SW didn't produce any album, he just mixed WHBWH :-). So you'll have to blame Vinny and Danny for the production.

A Natural Disaster is great and has this 'anathema feel'. Of course has bad moments but...VIOLENCE

Definitely not having a go at you for not liking the new ones, just saying I do! I really hope they go a bit more experiment-y in their next album too.

HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT

But they're correlated. Bad production can ruin a good atmosphere

I know man don’t worry. Cheers.
Omair: Forget it, we’ll never agree on that no matter how much we debate bro. :D
Granted I understand how you feel about those albums, and ofc they still have passion otherwise it wouldn’t be Anathema for sure.
But like I said it’s not the same to me, just my two cents. I grew up with their 90’s records so they have a special meaning to me.
Mixing…producing…w/e SW It’s a fucking plague. Opeth, OL, Katatonia and Anathema started sucking since they hired his services…
Just kidding. :D

Anathema now is just an average band with nothing really special and unique that others bands can envy.
Now that is not a fact. Very few bands could possibly hope of reaching the level of songwriting and execution of present day Anathema and I don't think there is an album in existence that captures the same magic or even sounds like WHBWH... apart from Weather Systems.

That's the point. The first time we here similar albums from anathema. Why? Maybe because are more 'catsy' and that means (Just a thought) eeh.. more money/fame? It's hard and I don't want to believe something like that of course , but if their next album is in the same philosophy then that means the end of the 'Anathema spirit'.

Say something bad about S.Wilson ... and everyone loses their minds. Hehe :P
