I adore them for how they are so easily able to just throw such complex and important themes in the air and then brush it aside with gallows humour.

Actually on the deluxe edition of High Violet there is a recording of him doing the same vocals he does on Squalor live, but instead the song is England. Should definitely check it out, it gives me chills every time I listen to it.

...high violet is almost bad. It's like 3-3.5 tops. This is classic. 3/4 of the songs on hv do not deserve a relisten and this is my second favourite band.

high violet is painfully boring. It lacks the intimacy of this album and it lacks that pure unadulterated immaturity that makes alligator my third favourite album ever. High violet does nothing they haven't done before better. All the songs on it are replaceable with previous/ better songs.

I think High Violet definitely has some amazing songs. The second half in particular is breathtaking. That being said, it isn't as good as Boxer.
