I've seen most of these songs live before, so it didn't really matter if I saw it or not.

The Arizona show was incredibly solid, as always from Thrice. Not the life changing experience I was hoping for but c'est la vie

"I never realized the extent to which this album destroyed Thrice’s commercial appeal."

I wasn't into their stuff from before this, but my friends basically considered each of those albums a religious experience. We flip-flopped HARD when this album came out. I think it took those old-school fans a long time (if even at all) to come around on such a hard change.

This is so strange to me because my friends and I who liked Thrice were immediately on board with this record when it dropped and thought it was brilliant. Though I do know two people who hate everything after the first two records. Weirdos.

For what it's worth, I still don't much dig the previous albums, but all those guys dig this now.

Saw them in LA last weekend and it was great, though the sound definitely could have been better for their set. Really hope it was inspiring to them to play through songs that are so much more ambitious and interesting than their current output.

I kinda hated this when it was first released. It took me a while to come around to it. It think the Alchemy indexes were all out before I gave it another try. Now, I love it, tho.

it's just infinitely rewarding. never guessed how much these songs would mean to me fifteen years later.

this would be an easy 4.5 if it didn't open with a boring ass song that sounds nothing like the rest of the album

i dont see that much of a difference between "image of the invisible" and the rest of the album, but it's definitely a weaker spot/corny

not enough deedle-dee guitars (hammer-ons? I dont know guitars)

I just think the album's stock improves considerably with "between the end" and then goes from there

Maybe you're being sarcastic but the chorus lead is like all hammer ons and pull offs

yeah it's the rare album that gets progressively better with each song

youre probably right that it is the same thing mechanically but for some reason the "between the end" chorus and something like "staring at the sun" have got that particular deedle-dee pattern lemme listen to "image" again though

tbh every time i listen to this i'm like 'image of the invisible' and 'red sky' are basically linkin park songs

which is cool and dope, i like plenty of linkin park songs. but the elevation of this particular album/those particular songs has always been kinda confusing to me
