Nice, a rare Asheim shout.

well the legendary drummers were all legendary specifically because they could actually play their material.
go watch old live videos of Pete Sandoval, Steve asheim, Mike smith, etc. they’re absolutely that fast and on time. the live shows are where you’re put to the test. no overdubs there.

I can’t believe we’re still having drum triggers debates in 2022 the year of our lord

well in this case it's not like "wow triggers aren't real drumming" it's just whether or not this album has them. a while back NailTheMix had phobophile's stems as one of their monthly mix challenges and the kicks are definitely triggered based on the stems in there

If I had all the time in the world, I'd love to take up drumming. I'd just love to experience for myself the dedication and commitment it takes to get to this level

I play guitar and have since I was like 12 but drums were what I originally wanted. My parents weren't having it though lol. Still want to get a kit one of these days. I have so many riffs written I could definitely drop at least a couple albums but I can't find a drummer near me to save my life. Don't really wanna go the programmed route either. Hopefully I can get a kit and get a one man project going soon

You should just record some guitar tracks to click and hire a session drummer to do a 3-4 track ep or something. Hell, I might be down. If I dig it, I'd do it for cheap

Hell yeah man! It's very possible I might end up taking you up on that. Got a lot of death metal stuff written as well as some sludgy powerviolence

Definitely give it some thought. I love going into the studio with stuff I'm not super familiar with. Sometimes the best stuff comes out of that. I also have a buddy with a studio that has recorded/mixed for some pretty big names and he's not too expensive. He'll get you a kickass guitar tone

Awesome man! I've never been to a legit studio but really would like to and learn a little about production and mixing/mastering and whatnot. I invested in a Shure SM57 awhile back and I love it. Just slapped a Black Winter and Hot Rail in my guitar recently too and it's sounding pretty nasty now. Gotta decide what pickup I'm gonna throw in the middle to get it all rounded out. If anyone here has some recommendations for a solid middle pickup that can dish out nasty metal tones throw them my way!
Also have another guitar that I'm wanting to put all new pickups in that'll be more for the clean and bluesy stuff I play so if anyone has recs for that that'd be great too!

Just remembered that the first time i heard this i played it at my last job and the general consensus was that even though it was technically impressive and the musicians were all obviously talented, it still wasn't music
