Whoa this thread grew up quickly during my sleep. Back to the accessible part, A Sun That Never Sets is def easier to get into than this one, BUT...

I've owned Neurosis albums for well over 15 years now, but they never really "clicked" with me until being exposed to their live shows. I saw them live for the first time in 2015, but in the months prior to that, I started watching pretty much every live video I could get my hands on on YouTube.
I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn't anticipating the intensity that they play with. I wasn't aware that there was ZERO audience interaction from the band. No "thanks for coming out tonight" or even a "this is our last song, have a good night." Nothing. And I love that. And I wasn't expecting Scott Kelly to routinely smash his skull into the microphone, ending many shows with a bloody face. Or Noah to nearly tip his keyboard into the crowd on many occasions.
Anyway, that's what did it for me. Gained a massive appreciation for their live show (actually just traveled from Boston to see them in Sydney, Australia) and then I got a new appreciation for all their studio albums.

Well, to be fair, a couple friends and I have talked about going to Australia for the past couple years. Then when I saw Neurosis was touring there and it pretty much gave us a real excuse to go.
