Everything Was Sound is their best imo. Panic Room is sick, so is Redivider, Psychescape (features Spencer which is pretty cool) and Orphan. I got really into them when that album dropped and the most recent one did hardly anything for me unfortunately. Still kinda bummed about that.

yeah maybe scenecore isn't the right tag, but it's really generic metalcore where you pretty much can figure out how every song is going to go from the first ten seconds

I'd say that's pretty accurate for their most recent album. That one definitely leaned into a more generic sound. But I wouldn't say that's accurate if you're talking about The Night God Slept or Everything Was Sound.

Generic doesn't equal bad though, I'd much rather listen to something generic where they absolutely nail it than something that's trying out new ideas but making a mess of it.

Empty Black is fairly generic, but they kill it on that record.

oh, same, but if I thought that was the case for SP I'd have said "they don't do anything new but they do it really, really well" or somesuch

Did a full discog run yesterday and today and I'm still blown away by how fucking good this is. It's the clear #1 for me with Disam and LITSOS being tied for second. It's everything I want in an Underoath album. The riffs, the drums, the heaviness, the catchiness, the right amount of Aaron, and to top it off Spencer sounds like a fucking animal.

I just can't believe this is from 2006 lol. I'm getting old.

This album goes hard the whole time. It's super well recorded too. And you can really tell Spencer worked on his vocals

Yeah I think he went from doing a Dallas impression to actually doing his natural vocals lol.

Still my fav screamer in metalcore.

The variety in his screams makes it very hard for others to compete.
