@Ford - this isn't the kind of album you can try & digest travelling to work (well, I get that impression anyway). I'm hoping the rating is wrong & I just need to wait until the time is right to hear it "properly"
If it's any consolation The Sun That Never Sets once made me cry (in a good way). I get the impression that one is more accessible though.

idk I'm not great at rating accessibility but it was honestly way easier for me to get into this than it was ASTNS...granted I have them both 5'd now....

This is going to sound odd Ford but HOW do you generally listen to Neurosis? Like, your environment/headphones or not etc. The Sun That Never Sets blew me away all those years ago when I was in complete darkness, drunk & just laying there thinking of nothing else.

I use headphones yeah. and generally when I'm listening to music, I'm at my computer fucking around on here and/or plug. I use plug a lot for chat but generally I jam albums on my ipod.
and idk how relevant this is but I hate jamming anything less than an entire album by someone, ESPECIALLY with this band. drives me nuts. it has to be an album or nothing, idk why, it just feels like I'm wrongly fragmenting an experience if I listen to parts of an album or songs. so I'd say definitely listen to it from start to finish.
hopefully that helps idk......

I'm DEFINITELY an album sort of guy, with you there! And I'm usually a headphones sort of guy as well. Think I'll jam 'em next time my wife's out, at least then I'm not in transit/at work & have minimal distractions.
Thanks for responding.
P.S. I wasn't ridiculing your use of jam/jamming by the way, only just seen that bit, realised I used it too... think it's contagious round these parts.

Ford we got a lot in common with music tbh. Cant jam less than full albums unless im full on a.d.d. slammin my brain to raunchy dm. My biggest pet peeve tho is trying to show someone a good song or album and they start babbling while its playing out. Idk some people just suck at actually listening to music i guess.

true. most of my friends irl don't share my taste so that's usually not a problem unfortunately

Haha yeah i only got a handful of homies that dig 90% of the metal i show em. Most of my friends are through the edm scene so needless to say they usually don't appreciate me throwing none so vile on at parties

A lot of people have no attention span these days, they're not very good at concentrating on any one thing at a time & get impatient very easily. I think that's not necessarily something isolated to the consumption of music (not that you were suggesting it was).

Jam/jamming is just Sput parlance. I hardly said it before I came to the site and now all I say is "Jam this" and "agreed."
