I saw this on Metacritic January 2009. Vivid memories...

I remember my try-hard hipster friend being super into them around 2009 and getting super mad at me when I referred to them as The Animal Collective

This is.
Absolutely devoid of musical substance
No style (barring the cover)
Inconsequential
Facile
At a constant stage of arrested development
An approximation of musical form and product (barring the odd melody)
Joyless
Spiritless
Artless
The musical equivalent of being a child at a school friends party who you don’t really get on with and whose family are weird. The fake happiness and party atmosphere is suffocating. The food is laid out on a table and pawed over by grubby hands making it taste shit.
Just shit.
There ya go.

This is my first taste. No idea why these guys popped up as recommended to me as I generally find music like this to be repulsive.
Age changes people I guess.

Love to see it
Do you appreciate the subtleties of tastebuds

Have the fondest memories of this coming out during a huge snowstorm in my town, and my first listens were walking through snow packed forests to this. This has one of the best opening tracks of all time

Album rules but it's not AnCo's best. Prefer Strawberry Jam to this. Maybe Feels, too. Sung Tongs has been growing on me (wouldn't immediately put it above this tho). Spirit is great but totally different. Hard to compare.
