this album is like when you know and then all of a sudden and you realize how beautiful life is
if you need this album to show you "how beautiful life is" *sparkly eyes*, you've got a problem.

It seems that people who would normally give this a 3.5/4 or so give it a 5, and people who would normally give it a 3 give it a 1-2. Because it's CTTS, of course.

This might be one of Sputnik's most controversial albums
|
| |
only reason it's controversial is because people who aren't accustomed to listening to this type of music did

it's more complicated than that acorn but it's still common sense basically and I don't feel like filling up another pg of text with truth.

The first time I ever heard Converge was a full listen of Axe To Fall. I loved it first time even though I wasn't used to their style.
I do not like this, putting it lightly.

really, demigod? I count 1 screamo album in your 4.5's and 5's.

There are exceptions of course, but Sea is right. The main issue has always been the genre, not the band.

oh look more tedious ATRU discussion

that's because i don't listen to a shit ton of screamo, im still familiar with the genre
|
| |
history lesson:
once upon a time, ATRU was like a cult classic sorta thing... on sputnik at least. was more or less universally loved by many because (I'm not saying some didn't love it just to be 'cool') it's awesome.
sidenote: it's not really representative of screamo at all... I mean it falls in the genre, but near the outskirts
anyway, it was known as a very well-loved record. so, when I didn't like it at first, I went huh... maybe it is bad, or maybe it just sounds bad because i'm not accustomed to this type of music. i set it aside. came back. didn't like it. set it aside. came back, loved it (long story short). I had faith in it because there were people that I had gotten so much great music from singing its praises, so even though I admittedly didn't enjoy it, I gave it a few chances.
Now, when there was all the CTTS drama a year ago, (just a few, not many) people started listening to it once or twice and then going This Sucks! and writing reviews about how it was a bad mish-mash of genres (lol). People wanting to hear about what all the hububaloo was about took a break from listenign to Avenged Sevenfold and Three Days Grace to try their ears on some CTTS. Hey! This is bad!, they found, Just like Emim said! Instead of looking for the beauty of ATRU, they looked for all the negatives that they set out to find, and by golly they found 'em! This demographic of listener multiplied and multiplied and it now inhabits this thread pretty regularly-- people who simply have no idea about the tenets of screamo (demigod), people that went into the album looking for negatives, or people that didn't give the album a chance and feel justified because there's others that don't like the album.
obviously there's people that sincerely don't like it, and I get that, that's fine. but I feel sorry for the people who went into this album looking for all these negatives and consequently found them instead of digging for positives, because this is a truly good album.
-- end rant -- (not nearly as good as the last one but I can't find it to copy/paste)

and just because I'm familiar with black metal doesn't mean I'd go into a classic of the genre and dismiss it "because I'm familiar with the genre" lol
