I kind of already had a soft spot for some pop-soul stuff, still need to dig into more classics of it but there's some real good stuff. i know i became a pretty big fan of Sampha in the last year. so having it mixed in is a unique vibe that I just kinda like. i love when bands do this sort of "post-genre" type thing
"lol if there is any single timeline guaranteed to end in disillusion and destruction, it's sharing cool stuff from japan on a butt metal site like this (goes for a bunch of other things too obviously)" yeah i guess we both got super jaded in our own little ways, me with my scene inclinations and you with your desire to show everyone the greatness of music from the east.

Sleep Token is the first time I've really been on board with pop-soul-esque stuff, it really is one of the primary genre's on this
LMFAO I CANNOT DEAL WITH THIS ANYMORE lOLLLLLLLLLL

Yep, and it was just as bad then (if not worse)

Issues' album did nothing for me. Tyler being outed did nothing but affirm my feeling on that. IMO "Flexin" is 10000x worse than anything here.

I'll take issues over these guys any fucking day. I hate Tyler but at least he can sing. this vessel guy, cannot.

>"only people who've never heard good music can [like this]" reeks of a mentality i wish would sincerely go away in music discourse
>Sleep Token is the first time I've really been on board with pop-soul-esque stuff, it really is one of the primary genre's on this
fucking rest my case

"I'll take issues over these guys any fucking day. I hate Tyler but at least he can sing. this vessel guy, cannot." to each their own. Tyler was a good singer, but i really thought the writing just left me cold on that last Issues album after Michael Bohn left.
also johnny i didn't say the second one if that's what you're implying lol. i've always had that soft spot for pop-soul stuff. think i just kept it buried for a bit because i was in circles i thought would judge me for it.
alternatively if you mean that that's an example of why you disagree with what i say then okay fair. my guess is some people just seem to only accept it when it's filtered in a "metal" pastiche because they're too insecure to admit they bumped michael jackson in their parents' house as a kid. admit it, we were all fans of the King of Pop at one point or another.

Issues would have been a lot better if tyler wasn't there. For example, Woe Is ME - being good now. I mean they are no shiner but yet again, who is.

all issues have in common with this band is it's pop + metal, but sleep token borrows from an entirely different subsection of pop than issues does
