prefer all we love we love behind but this wields the belt with lethal force too

it's just converge at their most eclectic and interesting imo which is why it's still my favorite

the riffs on this are so distinct and more varied compared to most of their stuff AWLWB and Jane Doe are so close behind this though it's not even funny

I prefer AWLWLB as well but this album is definitely godly and Wretched World is top tier. Favorite Converge closer

even though it's short I think "axe to fall" is the crown jewel on this album

It's definitely the most exhilarating in my book

I feel like exhilaration is sort of why I come to Converge, and I agree that that track is peak in that sense. Never liked their slower stuff much: they have a range in how they approach that kind of thing, but from "phoenix in flight" to "in her shadow" to the last two tracks here (I've expressed this latter opinion and gotten booed for it but oh well) those always end up being my least favs

I'd agree I come to converge mostly for that raw energy factor but I dig the slower cuts too.

The fast cuts on this album in particular do the most for me though among their discog. ATF, Effigy, Losing Battle, Dark Horse and Cutter are all my favorites here.

We all obviously come for the chaos, but their slower tracks get my dick so hard

it's funny that "dark horse," opening track, was probably their most accessible song until "aimless arrow," opening track, came along, and then maybe that was superseded by "a single tear," opening track

I don't think A Single Tear comes even close to either of those songs.

yeah "reap what you sow" is so off the wall, feels like they're about to lose control during that ascending guitar pattern

I actually was never a huge fan of "dark horse" and like "a single tear" perhaps a bit better--"aimless arrow" is one of my favorite converge songs--but I just meant that converge seem to be very intentional in putting their most accessible tracks first and, further, scaling that to album releases because each opening track in temporal order is even more accessible than the last, at least IMO. maybe "aimless arrow" remains their most accessible...

Of those tracks that's easily the best one

most personal and heartfelt vocals imo
