There is also the fact that this was genuinely hyped to be the future and one of the greatest albums of all time when it was released which rubbed me up the wrong way.

I bought it on iTunes when it came out and actually laughed at how fucking ridiculously shit it was and part of that whole insufferable hipster nonsense. Like getting a mocha, chocca, sweet syrup, fratte, latte chino straight in the face.

I’ve definitely warmed up to it a bit though.

No More Runnin is lovely.

I like AnCo and a lot of the associated solo projects, but it's still weird to me that this is the album that got all the hype. It's good, but far from their best IMO.

I'm just salty about the absence of animals used in the creation of this, including the complete absence of them on the cover

false advertising, nonsense excuse for music

but I actually do sort of wonder what I would think of this now, as I can't imagine it has aged well (adjusting for my taste ascension here)

It is very unsurprising that this is the most popular / was their most hyped record given the style and wildly increased accessibility of their sound here

i never got the relation of Animal Collective to hipsters.

And yeah this is a psychedelic masterpiece and has aged beautifully.

I like it much more now vs. when it came out. The hype back then was nauseating. But whenever I'm in AnCo mood, it is Strawberry Jam I jam, jam, jam.

The hype for that Panda Bear album was even worse, though. That one I just don't get at all.

I think that one is even more emotionally arresting for me.
